Singing in the plaza

It is a week of events here in Competa to celebrate the culture.
Lots of things being aimed at the youngsters in the village.
Dave and I went to the plaza last night as a coiple of ladies from the patchwork group were singing.
I have also been invited to have a stall tomorrow evening from 6 till very late...
Here are the ladies singing and enjoying themselves, watched by a very large crowd, despite the cold wind.
We are also watching a fire in the campo, the helicopter is spreading water over it and the bomberos are beating out the flames.. I think nearly all of the village is out on their terraces watching the events unfolding. It looks to be under control now though..

Finished painting.

I finished the painting I have been working on this afternoon.
I especially like the effect of the light shining in through the open window..
Now to find a frame

Painting

On Monday, I was printing patters for the knitting  and crochet club. One of the girls wanted a pattern for a shawl to crochet, and another friend wanted the pattern for the bolero I am making for my daughter, thanks to a site I found called Jessica Tromp.
Yesterday was a cooler day here altogether and I decided to paint the bathroom ceiling to take advantage of this.
In the afternoon, I began a couple of watercolours.
I took this photo the other week while we were in LaCasona, one of the local restaurants.
The light was lovely and I thought that it would make a good subject to paint.
So here is the photo and the watercolour I am painting of it... so far so good?

Thanks to everyone who has been reading my blog.
I have been updating it recently with my (our) new samsung galaxy tablet... which makes it much easier to post and share photos.
Still find it hard to believe that over 18.000 people would be interested in what I am up to..

Quilting on the terrace

This afternoon, due to the rise in temperature here in Competa,  I donned the bikini and sat in the shade on the terrace enjoying the pleasant breeze. I then continued to quilt the top I ,am making for lucy and Mathew.
I am lucky to enjoy the view down to the sea too.

Merienda

Following Monday's knitting/crochet club, when I was trying to teach a young lady to crochet, I went to the lastpatchwork class of the season. I  did not realise that the ladies had organised a party or merienda. Everyone had brought food and drink to share.
I was trying not to eat too much as Dave and I had made plans to go out to a local restaurant. ?
Anyway, I managed to eat several delicious home made goodies, drank lots of fanta and finished with an ice cream. ...

Finished tablecloth and tablet

I am now the proud owner of a Samsung tab 2 and am just learning some of the very clever things it can do. I have taken a couple of  photos and will try and upload them to the blog using the tablet... fingers crossed that it
will work first time

Woo hoo it worked. Here is a photo of the tablecloth I have just finished crocheting this afternoon. I will not be able to show the ladies of the knitting/crochet club until next week as there is a blood donor session on today.
It is also lovely to be spending time with our gorgeous daughter Lucy and her fiance Mathew,  who are enjoying a short break here .
