Crochet class.

Monday's knitting and crochet club was a busy one for me. Two girls who are learning to crochet took up most of my time. However, between us we managed to make an amigurimi cactus and a granny square. Another lady is making a cardigan for her granddaughter and needed some help with the shaping.
Dave and I moved all the very useful things from the staircase into my little workroom as the painters are due to begin work on the outside of our higgledy piggledy village house tomorrow so there is a bit of disruption to say the least.
Time for a bit of a sort out?

Template making

I have begun the border for the quilt having first made a paper template which was the same size as the small stars in each corner.
I then drew around this to make an exact cardboard replica. I used this as a pattern marker to quilt around, but quickly realised that the placement could be improved on this side so re drew it more evenly.
I have started to quilt..

Wedding anniversary and oil painting

Life has been strange this week.
Dave and I celebrated our 31st wedding anniversary yesterday. Wow.
Also due to a few coincidences,  we were having a drink on Thursday at Mesa las Gemelas and I took a couple of photos of the sunset. Isidro (owner) asked why ..and I began to show him some pictures of paintings I have completed. He really liked the oil painting I did for a competition for a poster for the night of the wine here in Competa, which was not won by anyone this year and asked if it was for sale..
Dave and I delivered it to it's new home yesterday morning and we now have an empty space on the wall.
Here is a photo of me with the painting.

Purse frames and quilt border pattern

Dave and I went to the new chinese bazar shop here in  Competa this morning for a look around.
My friend Judi had already told me that they were stocking craft supplies..
I got my eye on the selection of purse frames and bought a large one for the bargain price of €3.85 so now I am looking forward to telling the ladies of the patchwork group..and the knitting/crochet girls too.
I presume the smaller ones are much cheaper.
I have also, despite being mathematically challenged, managed to work out a lovely star design for the quilt border. It was taken from one of the materials I used in the top. Hope that the thread arrives soon?

Crochet and nice weather

While the weather has been holding up here in Andalucia, I have taken
the opportunity to plant a few seeds ready for the spring, including some marigold seeds that I have kept growing that were originally my Dad's.
They have already germinated too.
I have also continued to crochet to pass the time making motifs which will eventually be made into a top for myself, following an old Coats pattern which was for a tray cloth.
Reading the pattern I had a
giggle to myself as the laundry instructions began with the phrase..
Many people now have a washing machine!
Here is a photo of progress so far with the old pattern underneath.

Waiting for thread

Whilst waiting for some quilting thread to arrive so I can finish the quilt top,  I have begun to make some thing else with crochet motifs..so far so good, don't know what it is going to be yet...

Shrugs

It has been a strange week here in Competa. A concert of zambombas from the ladies of the village, and also a sort of bonfire night held in Plaza del Carmen, along with torrential rain too! Fortunately it has been sunny since.
I thought I would also post a picture of the shrug I have made for myself with some bargain Egyptian cotton I bought a while ago...
So a bit of work later ...
€1.80 well spent and all my spaghetti straps are hidden from view.

Crochet Crocs

I found this cute pattern for these baby crocs on the internet by Jenny Lawson at www.craftycove.weebly.com
They were so cute I could not resist making them yesterday afternoon sitting outside the front door in the sunshine.
I bought the buttons for the straps at the local hardware shop today and could not wait to get back home to finish them off
I am going to make a pair in pink too.

Kaptain Kitty

Today saw an improvement in the weather so I sat outside the front door with a bit of crochet.
I followed a pattern that I found on the Internet for an amigurimi hello kitty posted by pameleux which I have modified and made into a pirate.
Here she is sitting in her boat.
