Here is my latest watercolour painting. I have experimented with the use of negative space to outline the subject of pomegranates. I had to stop myself from over painting and muddying the colours.
I will definitely use this technique again. At this time of year the paint dries really quickly due to the heat so I had to keep the paper wet.
Any comments would be appreciated thanks.

Watercolour paintings
Today after we had been shopping in the local market, I painted some frames that I had bought earlier in the year gold, which really covered the old brown plastic.
I then put in two watercolour and ink sketches I finished yesterday and changed the frame of the one I hung up the other day to match.
Here are a few photos of the results.

Watercolour painting
I have finished a watercolour painting of the hanging houses here in Competa, which I have been working on during the week.
I am told that after the fire it will take about eight years for the trees to regrow. At the moment investigations into the cause of the blaze are still ongoing.

Life in competa
A massive forest fire began near to competa yesterday. The fire spread extremely quickly due to the very dry conditions and high winds and sparked a massive response from the emergency services. Many houses were evacuated. Dave and I watched six helicopters and two planes carrying water to the areas affected all afternoon from the terrace . It was very scary.
Dampening down continued today.

Finished Fairisle cardigan
I have finished knitting a fair isle cardigan for myself from wool left over from other projects.
I was very lucky to be able to match up the pattern, which I designed myself, as I was left with about a foot of the very dark colour!
Unfortunately I will not be able to wear it just yet as the weather is far too hot, so it will have to wait until at least the end of October.
I have also sent away for some more wool and am waiting for it to arrive can't wait!! Black with sparkles. The next cardigan has a beautiful knitted collar and three quarter sleeves.
Yesterday someone who is very interested in art came round to our house to show me his sketches, which are very detailed and executed in ink. Gorgeous!
Gerardo was also complementary about my artwork which is hung on our walls.
I lent him a book of watercolour techniques as he really wants to find out how to do it.
He also kindly invited Dave and I to his corjito to spend an afternoon with his wife Marilo who runs the florist shop here in Competa.

Crochet shrug and quilted computer cover
I have finally finished the bolero I have been making. It is the same pattern as the one I made for my daughter last year but in pink.
And Dave is very happy with the dust cover I have quilted for the laptop.
We also had a wonderful weekend with five friends who came over to visit us for a few days, staying in the local hotel.
I am also off to malaga tomorrow with the ladies of the village for lunch and sightseeing. It is going to be hot so I will have to wear something cool I reckon.

Fairisle cardigan
I have been knitting myself a Fairisle cardigan in odds and ends of double knitting wool leftover from other projects. I made up the various patterns by drawing them on graph paper. It is coming along nicely and I have just begun to knit the sleeves.
Hope I have enough of the darker colours. Fingers crossed anyway
:)
