Toy dogs and watercolours

Here is a painting I have begun of a guitarist and dancer

and another of La Casona restaurante here in Competa
They will both need both need to be framed.
I am trying to do a couple a week so I have a bit of stock built up to sell at the Easter market.

I have also been making some toy dogs to sell to raise funds for breast cancer charity.
The patchwork group has been making things to sell so that we can get material to make into heart shaped cushions which are given to ladies suffering from breast cancer
Here are a couple that need some faces sewn on
as you can see the material I have been using was donated from a shop that makes flamenco dresses, and I am trying to make each one different, although I do not want to make too many in case they do not sell.
The post lady also brought a delivery of jewellery findings that I was waiting for to complete an order.. so guess what I will be doing before I go to patchwork class this afternoon??? ha ha

Further progress with the window

I have painted a few more layers onto the watercolour painting of the window, so here is the progress so far.
I may have to deepen the shadows more, but as it is raining here today (much needed) the light is not too good and it may have to wait until tomorrow.
Anyway, it did not deter me from buying another block of watercolour paper ready for action.
Yesterday was a stange day, with the funeral of a friend. Following that was the knitting and crochet club, where I was called upon to show a crochet technique to one lady and demonstrate Tunisian crochet to another. Ana's mum had also finished the cardigan she has been knitting for herself. Following last week's crochet hat present, the lady who was given it gave a scarf she had knitted in return, I think we have a very nice group of people there? :D All very talented..
I also got an order yesterday to make some earrings to match a necklace that I sold last year, so I will do that this afternoon before the patchwork class

Window watercolour

It was a bit cooler here in Competa today, so following a bit of housework, I went to my little workshop and  began a watercolour of one of the windows of a local restaurante, 'La Casona'.
here it is so far..
I am enjoying painting this one.
I am also repairing some ripped jeans at the moment too, so when I have finished here I will need to go and sew them, before making supper, which is going to be Chinese style lemon sticky chicken and rice.
Due to the lemon glut, I am also going to make some lemon pudding which includes condensed milk and cream... :D
Oh and if you look closely at the celtic design cushion cover in my last post, you can see the mistake I made, 2 crossovers together in the middle, which made me unpick every thing and begin again so it is correct now :D

Celtic design cushion cover

Gosh I am having a very busy week this week.
A call from a member of the knitting club  knitting club to say she had been in an accident and her car had been written off. So she is going to live with her son down on the coast. So I hope she gets over the shock of the accident soon.
Tuesday, in the patchwork class, we began to make cushion covers with a celtic design on the front. Some of the class got to play with the bias binding maker and sticky interfacing tape that held the design together whilst it was being sewn. I made some bias binding from some blue material I had and am currently sewing it onto the base.
Here it is so far
and here is the spotty dog I am making to sell for charity
Sadly, we heard yesterday that a friend who had only been ill a short while had died suddenly  RIP..

Finished sewing machine cover

Well, the sewing machine cover has finally been completed.. Yippee....
The machine is now fully protected from dust and is now sitting nicely on the bench in my little workroom.
I may now have to do another one for the over locker.. but I will wait and see. I have been looking at patterns for quilts so I can sew one for my daughter, possibly a star design, but I will let her choose..
Anyway here is a picture of the finished cover
I have also been making a pudding with avocados, which were given to us by our neighbour. I got the recipie from a restaurant. The avocados are mixed with leche dulce or condensed milk and a dash of milk to loosen the mixture, and processed into a very smooth paste, which is then sprinkeld with chocolate powder.
It sounded really weird, but tastes absolutely delicious...
Guess what we will be having for pudding tonight???

Sewing machine cover so far...

I finished the quilting for the parts of my sewing machine cover, and began to sew them together with bright pink bias binding. I needed several attempts at this.
The sides were larger than I needed, and I had to trim them both to fit, making sure that the patchwork base matched up too !! Then I sewed the bias tape onto the straight edge of the cover by machine.
The next step was to make sure that all the raw edges were incorporated in the second fold of the bias.
Then, unusually for me, I decided to tack it all together so I could take my time and sew it properly.
This was the point when my sewing machine decided to misbehave...GRR... snapping thread... big bits of thread on the reverse side... anyway, several unpickings and a lot of fiddling with the tension later Da Da....the sides are now sewn into position. Oh and just for fun I need some more bias binding for the bottom edge as you can see, and the shop is shut until Tuesday....
Oh well, I'm sure I can think of something else to do???
